Are my documents or translations uploaded?
No. Source text and translated output are processed on your computer by the bundled local AI model. The desktop app does not upload them to our servers or a cloud translation service.
Where are my reference translations and glossaries stored?
On your device. Your glossary, bilingual reference translations, and their retrieval indexes are stored locally. They are searched locally and are not uploaded to the server. Saved translation sessions also remain on your computer.
Can I keep translating with no internet connection?
Yes. Install the bundled runtime and model, then sign in online first. Later launches validate your signed cached license locally. There are no background or periodic online license checks. While that license is valid, local translation and reference retrieval work without internet access. Account registration, sign-in, and subscription renewal require an internet connection; an expired license needs to be renewed online.
What does the desktop app send to the website?
The app contacts the account service when you explicitly register, verify your email, or sign in. Sign-in obtains your signed license; startup and ongoing translation validate it locally, without background authorization requests. Document text, translated output, glossary entries, and reference translations are not part of those requests.
Which documents can I import?
The desktop app extracts text from supported Word, Excel, PDF, and plain-text files. PDF extraction depends on a text layer. Results are exported as plain text; the original document layout is not preserved.
How do local references help translation?
Locatran retrieves relevant glossary entries and similar bilingual reference passages on your computer. This gives the local model your preferred terms and reference phrasing. You should still review the result.
How do the trial and subscription work?
Your 30-day trial begins when you verify your email, with no credit card required. When payments are enabled, subscribe and manage billing from your online account. Checkout confirms final totals, taxes, and billing terms.
